B.B. King Documentary

In July of 2017 we had longtime friend and producer Bill Szymczyk in the studio being filmed for a documentary about B.B. King. The documentary is called "The Life of Riley" and is being produced by filmaker Jon Brewer. Bill produced a variety of albums for B.B. King, most notably "Completely Well" featuring the classic song "The Thrill is Gone." That song featured a string section (Szymczyk's idea) and was the first timestrings had ever been used on one of B.B.'s tracks. It was a "thrill" to have Bill playing back the tracks in the control room for the film, and we are looking forward to it's release. ...

Front Page Flo

In June we traveled to the University of Akron's Daum Theatre to record the "staged reading" of Larry Kass' musical "Front Page Flo." The performance was choreographed by Tony-nominated George Pinney and was under the direction of music director Terry LaBolt. Larry is a long time friend of Audio, and we have recorded and provided audio for the radio broadcast of his "Mighty Wurlitzer Radio Hour" for many years. For this recording NAC Technologies supplied wireless head-worn mics for the cast and the show was multi-tracked using our Dante based recording rig. We mixed the recordings of the 2 performances down at the studio, and sent them for a Blu-Ray release by Larry's Razzmatazz Productions. You can also watch the full performance on YouTube ...

In April 2016 we had Helen Welch in recording her new album "Spellbound" which was released on August 9th, 2016, and her Christmas album "Home for Christmas." April Choir Recordings

April saw us working with several long-standing choral clients. We recorded the various ensembles as well as soloists from Federated Church in Chagrin Falls under the direction of Director of Music Ministries Chris Ludwa. They released "Unity: A Celebration of Music, Spirit & Song" produced by nationally recognized vocalist Amanda Powell. We also recorded 5 different Firestone High School vocal ensembles under the direction of Chad Pittman with help from former Direcor of Choruses Sally Schneider. We recorded the larger ensembles at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Akron, and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble here at the studio. We also traveled to the College of Wooster's Gault Recital Hall to record the College of Wooster Chorus under the direction of Dr. Lisa Wong, Associate Professor of Music. We have been fortunate to work with Dr. Wong and the College of Wooster Chorus for many years.  ...

2016 Updates

In addition to the other stories we've posted, here are a few other projects we worked on this past year!

LudwigMasters Publishing

In January we did our annual multi-day recording session for LudwigMasters Publishing’s new releases catalog including band, full orchestra, string orchestra and chamber ensemble arrangements. We have been recording for their catalog for the past 13 years, utilizing top Cleveland area musicians. The musicians are led by the famous Loras John Schissal, Senior Acquisitions Specialist with the Library of Congress and conductor extraordinaire. We followed this up in September with another session with LudwigMasters featuring the music of Mike Lewis arranger, composer and musician.

AnimalHero and Healthy Discussion

Laurel Herman (AnimalHero.com) was in the studio again with her continuing Animal Hero and Healthy Discussion podcasts in which she interviews prominent physicians in various fields. This project began about 3 years ago with Dr. Kevin Flemming, of the Mayo Clinic, on pain and management. The series grew to a broad series of podcasts. These can be found at AnimalHero.com, iTunes and Soundcloud.com/healthydiscussion.

Health Journeys 

In February we worked on new releases from Health Journeys. We have been fortunate to have a long-standing relationship with Belleruth Naparstek and Health Journeys (www.healthjourneys.com.) Belleruth is a pioneer in guided imagery, and HJ is also producing for other practitioners, such as Traci Stein, PhD., and Julie Lusk.

 

Cleveland Orchestra in Miami

Also in February, Bruce continued his live Cleveland Orchestra concert broadcasts from The Arscht Center for Performing Arts in Miami, Florida.  He traveled twice in January, and once in March for a total of four broadcasts. These broadcast recordings have been ongoing for 10 years.

Georgina Gatto, Soprano

In June Bruce flew to Grand Cayman Island to record soprano Georgina Gatto and Judit Gabos on piano for her upcoming Amor sólo Amor CD.

Cleveland Orchestra at Public Square

July  29, 2016– We spent the day downtown for the annual Cleveland Orchestra free concert on Public Square. We recorded and mixed the concert for live broadcast on WCPN and WCLV.

Michael Hronek "Songs for Susan"

August started new project with Michael Hronek, composer and pianist. “Songs for Susan” was completed in December.  Dylan Moffitt contributed percussion tracks for this CD. 

 

 

 

Violinist Tom Wood

In September we recorded Tom Wood's violin recital at the College of Wooster.
